Why did we build this ACCEO Logivision E-commerce Integration?
During the pandemic, liquor and grocery stores were wanting to streamline the ordering process with minimal contact. One of our website design clients wanted to achieve this with an e-commerce platform that could take orders, schedule pick-up times, and work with the LPOS system.
There were no solutions available when we started to research options. What to do? Build one!
How it Works
Every night the website will sync online orders to your Logivision POS. Then the POS system will send back the inventory and new products so the website stays current.
Why do liquor/grocery stores need an e-commerce store?
An online store can provide a much more convenient shopping experience and provide stability with pickup scheduling during uncertain times (e.g. pandemic).
Can an online store increase sales for a liquor/grocery store?
Definitely! Online stores create a way for customers to make an order when they are ready to buy. Plus, this allows opportunities to connect with customers via email or bring in new customers via Google.
What happens if someone buys a sold-out item online?
The website syncs inventory every night so online items in stock are available for purchase. There is the possibility of someone ordering an item online while another customer buys the last one in the store. If this does happen, you have the ability to amend a customer order and change it for a substitute product.
Can staff members operate this online store?
Yes! We can create different levels of user accounts so staff members have just enough access to process and edit orders. The dashboard of the website also has a space for us to leave helpful reminders and personalized training videos.
How will staff members know when an online order has been placed?
This depends a bit on your current setup. The website has the ability to integrate with a variety of different methods of communication, including printers, email, text messages, and display screens.
On which platform do you build the e-commerce store?
We utilize the WordPress CMS as the foundation. It is a very customizable platform and we’ve used it to build hundreds of website projects.
Features
- Nightly website orders are processed into Logivision under a new terminal/cashier for tracking
- Website sales will report daily transactions, GROSS, TAX, and NET breakdown of amounts, breakdown by department
- Product catalog is updated each morning with new products added and inventory counts and pricing
- Regular and Sales pricing maps over to the website
- Ability to use coupons on the website
- Charges are AUTHed and captured at pickup
- Ability to set pickup time slots each day, duration, and number of pickups for up to 5 days out
- Ability to integrate with a printer
- Custom Pick-print order receipts in-store for cashiers to pull orders
Restrictions and Requirements
- Integration requires the use of each local store’s Logi POS system’s task scheduler, custom scripts, and winSCP to perform uploads and downloads
- Only allows for 1 single image for a product from LOGI into the website
- Images have very specific requirements to keep it consistent when migrated to the website
- Categories will need to be customized to allow customers to filter when they search the online store
- There is no place in LOGI to store a long product description, so that would need to be updated on the website
- We setup variations as single products instead of nested variations
- Payment gateway/processor needs to be able to do “Auth” and “Capture the Auth” (up to 5-day hold)
- Better to be able to VOID an authorization of order versus Refund (fewer fees and better accounting activity)
- We can recommend a payment gateway processor if you need one for the online store
- Cloud printing account required for hookup to printers (BizSwoop Cloud Print)
- Has to be through our hosting because of the complexity of the setup
Options
- Fully customized website design with features to highlight team, staff picks, highlighting of local products/categories, stores open/closed hours
- We can activate the store to allow return user’s to save and preview past orders
- This can make repeat orders faster for returning customers
- We can customize how much order data (e.g. discounted amounts and pricing from coupons) that are also uploaded nightly to LOGI with custom web development
