Lakes Area Celebrations has been the best resource for planning a wedding or event in the lakes area for several years. However, a new website was needed to provide a better experience for both visitors planning an event and vendors looking to get listed.
New Website Structure And Features
First and foremost, the new structure separated the vendors from the static content using a custom post type. Custom fields and a content template were attached to this new post type to keep the format consistent. Steph Tvrdik, owner of LAC (Lakes Area Celebrations), could then populate these vendors quickly to save time. Once populated, the vendors could visit LAC and claim their listing and become a member of the site. Doing so would give them the ability to display more information for their business and get more prominent positioning to be seen by visitors.
For visitors, the biggest new feature was the advanced search. Visitors could now search by location, category, or view by map. When viewing individual vendor pages, the visitor can see more detailed information, view sample work, and leave a review of their experience.
To finish off the website, we worked closely with Steph to polish the design of the site. Her background in graphic design was perfect for fine tuning the colors, typography, and layouts for the content.
CYBERsprout has been integral in moving Lakes Area Celebrations from a back-burner business to a career for me. Their expertise in the WordPress platform has allowed my site to do more than I thought possible for an initial website build. The theme is simple, beautiful and fully functional, with Google Maps integration, image galleries, and customer reviews. My customers are able to Claim their listings and start paid subscriptions right away with secure credit card or PayPal payments through WooCommerce.
My background in web design had me thinking this was something I could do on my own, but I am so thankful to have found CYBERsprout. I’m no longer stuck developing and problem solving, now I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing — helping local businesses advertise directly to their target market.
