The Challenge

The Pride of the Lakes “buy local” campaign needed to be driven by an intuitive website that could help local businesses and residents join the cause. For residents to show support, there needed to be a simple form to collect pledge names and testimonials while promoting the Pride of the Lakes newsletter.

The needs were more complex for business pledges. The form had to sign up businesses for a membership, set up a recurring membership payment, create a business listing on the website, collect a testimonial, and subscribe them to the Pride of the Lakes newsletter.

Lastly, the website would be a collaboration between the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria DECA, and CYBERsprout so flexibility and ease of customization were important to support all ideas for the Pride of the Lakes campaign.

Our Solution

Designed with Purpose

CYBERsprout worked with the DECA students to put together a clean layout that reflected the colorful Pride of the Lakes branding. The flow of the navigation and page layouts guided visitors to learn more about the mission and how they could show support.

As visitors signed up to show support, the new entries automatically fed into the relevant areas of the website to display the names of every pledge. For business pledges, the template dynamically populated all listings with filtering for visitors exploring their local options.

Lastly, the blog section displayed a grid of news that highlighted local businesses. Writing full blog posts is very time-consuming so we customized the backend to make it easy to share third-party articles. This enabled website admins to quickly add existing articles on the website while properly redirecting visitors to the original article to learn more.

Advanced Signs Up Forms

We utilized conditional fields to hide unnecessary fields to keep the visitor’s focus on the critical information required to sign up. After the form is submitted, the following actions are triggered.

  • Process payment and set up a recurring subscription
  • Create a business profile from the form submission data
  • Sign up for business contact for the Pride of the Lakes newsletter
  • Send out a notification email to Alexandria Chamber to approve the application

The end result is an easy-to-manage membership platform that helps drive financial support and build social proof for the campaign.
