The Challenge

Stevens Community Medical Center (SCMC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital, fully-integrated, healthcare delivery system located in Morris, Minnesota that provides a broad array of medical, surgical, and mental health services. They came to CYBERsprout for help making their website more manageable to update, easier to navigate, and accessible to all users.

Our Solution

We started by evaluating all the different types of information the website needed to provide and their relationships to one another. For example, each service area needed to connect to the appropriate providers and locations. These connections needed to flow in the other direction from providers and locations as well. We designed a backend system to allow easy updating of all the individual components (service, provider, location) and their associated data (description, resources, biography and education, photos, address, contact information, etc.) and applied logic to automatically show the connections where appropriate across the site. A similar system was applied to job postings and COVID updates, allowing them to appear where needed from a single point of entry on the backend.

Their extensive list of services was regrouped services into four main categories as part of the larger information architecture overhaul. A Quick Find section on the homepage and search functionality in the header was added to allow easy access to everything in a few clicks.

A recent rebranding prior to our involvement provided strong elements to build on. The new web design is clean and fresh with bold pops of color and patterns.

Finally, the new website was designed to be responsive across different devices and HIPAA/ADA Accessibility (Level II) compliant.
